Having Fun Staying Warm

January has proven to be VERY cold so far...too cold to play outside most days, so we have been trying to stay busy inside.  One of our favorite indoor activities is craft time!  We made a trip to our local Hobby Lobby and loaded up on some fun new projects.  First up: painting plaster vehicles-what could be better?!

 Davis put so much paint on his that I thought it would never dry. But, we learned a valuable lesson...if you put all the colors together, you get black.  Carter was very bothered by the fact that Davis kept mixing the colors.  To each his own...

 We also bought a bunch of these biodegradable foam pieces that you can stick together.  The boys had fun constructing letters, butterflies and even flowers for Mom!  They honestly can be very sweet sometimes.  I love those moments.  It makes me feel like I'm not totally failing them in the charm department.  

This week, we had our favorite girls over for lunch & the boys had fun entertaining baby Alina.  She is a sweet girl & I could just snuggle her all day.

 After a big day of crafting, it was time to chillax on the couch for some Leap Pad game time.  Carter has enjoyed helping Davis figure out the games and Davis loves getting to play on his very own Leap Pad!

Child's Play

Today was the last day of our school break, so we decided to make the most of it & spent the morning at the Children's Museum.  The boys loved exploring the new Kinetics area.  Next time, we'll have to take Sean--this is right up his alley!

 Turning the knobs and wheels to get the plastic balls into the cage overhead.  They then dumped into a large plastic tub that poured balls over the kids every few minutes.  That never gets old!

 The bubbles are always a hit!  I loved that the kids all wore safety goggles, so as not to get soap in their eyes.  The boys looked like mini-engineers.  Adorable.

 We ended our day fighting fires and saving the day.  (PS: Doesn't that dog look real?!)

Seven Years Strong

Today Sean & I are celebrating our seven year wedding anniversary.  I can't believe how much has happened in the past seven years.  I feel very blessed to have had my wonderful husband by my side through it all...

Mimi pampered us by keeping the boys overnight while we went out downtown & stayed at this awesome hotel--thanks, Mimi!!!  We did a little shopping on the 16th Street Mall, listened to some great Jazz at a club downtown and then stuffed ourselves at our new favorite restaurant--Tamayo (thanks to Josh & Natalie's recommendation).  I'm not sure what we enjoyed more-the fun out on the town or being able to sleep in and watch all the HGTV we could handle at the hotel (we don't have cable).  It's a toss up.

Zoo Lights 2012

In keeping with our annual holiday tradition, we took in Zoo Lights with the family.  Sean opted out because he was sick over most of the Christmas break.  Our other negative was that we picked a really COLD night to go & probably didn't plan as well as we should have.  Some long johns would have been nice.  Anyway, the lights are always amazing and we had a good time despite the icicles forming on our noses.

Georgetown Holiday Fun

On the day after Christmas, we drove up to Georgetown for their "Holiday Lights Train", complete with hot cocoa, Christmas music & SNOW!  It was wonderful, and one of my favorite days of this holiday season.  

Carter told us that he might decide to grow up to be a "rock star"...we'll see!

After the train ride, we headed to the Alpine in Georgetown for some yummy pizza, beer (iced tea for Sean), live music & ceiling trains--does it get any better?
