Take Me Out To the Ball Game!

We took the boys to the Rockies game last night, their very first baseball game!  We had free tickets from Sean's office and enjoyed a Rockies WIN!  The other highlight was all the stadium concession food--that kept the boys entertained and we made it to the seventh inning stretch before heading home.

Up On the Roof

Sean's parents stopped in Colorado to visit us on their way back from Alaska.  I am sad to say that we have zero pics from their five nights here.  I do have evidence that Grandpa Dan was here, because he helped Sean work on the deck and they got a lot done!  The roof is finished and the trim work has started.  The next step is to do the wiring for the ceiling fans and the outdoor speakers.

Grandma Pat did a lot of work, too!  She took care of the boys all weekend so that the guys could focus on the outside work.  THANK YOU to both of them for all the help and patience!  We love you both and are so glad you came to see us on your long trip home to MO.

 You can see the roof soffit better from these angles.  Apparently, this is a big job and takes a long time.  I wouldn't know, but it sure is looking nice! Sean has gotten several comments and questions from the other dads in the neighborhood about his construction skills.  I think they are all worried that their wives are going to want a back porch like this!  I'm willing to hire Sean out...

First Day of Kindergarten!

Carter was lukewarm about starting Kindergarten today.  He was excited about his new backpack and lunch box, but not too sure about the rest of it.  I am happy to report that when I picked him up this afternoon, he told me "Mom, that was a lot more fun than I thought it would be."  Way to set the expectations low... ;-) I really think we made the right choice to keep him in line with his age peers, rather than move him up to First Grade. We have a great teacher, Mrs Snyder, and she is really focused on helping Carter with those social skills that are a work-in-progress for him.  We are looking forward to a great school year!

First Day of Preschool, Finally!

That's right, my baby is in Preschool!  Davis had "Meet & Greet" with his new teachers Ms LaDonna & Ms Teresa last night.  He was thrilled to be in the same classroom that Carter had last year and jumped right into the Centers.  It was hard to get them out of there!  (At one point he had a necklace, two bracelets and a pair of pink slippers on.)    

We are SO happy to have LaDonna again this year!

Carter was happy to see his favorite teacher and know that she will be just down the hall from his new classroom.  He made LaDonna a special card to wish her a happy school year.  :-)

 Davis surprised me by saying he wanted to be an Engineer, like Daddy, when he grows up!  We'll see... I see him as more of a cross between Bill Clinton and Adam Sandler.  Time will tell!

 These two guys were so excited to go to school today. When I picked him up, Davis told me "Mom, this was the funnest day of Preschool EVER!"  Love him!

Cure For A Gloomy Day

It has been cool and gloomy here the past two days...so much so that they canceled swim lessons because the water was too cold.  So, we went to Plan B for getting out of the house--Jump City!  It is a lot like Jump Street (where Carter's birthday party was last year) and the boys had a blast!  

 Even though we have a trampoline at home now, it can't compare to all this!

We topped off the afternoon with a stop at DQ for some Blizzards to benefit the Children's Miracle Network.  It was a win-win!

Mimi's Birthday

We got to help Mimi celebrate her 62nd birthday on Sunday! (A lady never reveals her true age.)  I was lucky enough to stay home from work, so we got to spend a little extra time together. It was a low-key day since we had already done the cake part a couple of days earlier.

We treated ourselves to ice cream at our local sweet shop.  An added bonus was seeing this huge bird come in.  He didn't eat any ice cream.  Weird.

The low-point of the day was dropping Aunt Christy off at the airport.  She had to fly back to Chicago and missed our birthday dinner celebration at Black Eyed Pea.  I know she was really upset about that...  Thanks, Milnes, for a great visit and all of your help with Carter and Davis!  Hope we can do it again!
