Happy Birthday, Sean!

Sean's birthday is always close to Father's Day, so we kind of lump the two together.  We took him out to dinner at Fogo de Chao in LoDo.  It was super yummy.  Even Carter found a couple of things he liked! Poor Davis fell asleep on the drive there & snoozed through the entire delicious meal.  He even missed chocolate cake!

Davis Turns FOUR!

I cannot believe our little guy is FOUR years old!  Seriously, where does the time go?!  Davis got his very own birthday party this year, for the first time ever...he was so excited!  We decided to keep it "simple" and just invited his entire Preschool class (16 kids).  Most of them were able to come to the party, so it was a lot of fun to see them interact outside of school.  But, we started the day opening a couple of presents:

We had a great time with our friends and feel so fortunate to have so many nice folks come celebrate with us. It was a fun night!

Mimi's Birthday

We got to help Mimi celebrate her 62nd birthday on Sunday! (A lady never reveals her true age.)  I was lucky enough to stay home from work, so we got to spend a little extra time together. It was a low-key day since we had already done the cake part a couple of days earlier.

We treated ourselves to ice cream at our local sweet shop.  An added bonus was seeing this huge bird come in.  He didn't eat any ice cream.  Weird.

The low-point of the day was dropping Aunt Christy off at the airport.  She had to fly back to Chicago and missed our birthday dinner celebration at Black Eyed Pea.  I know she was really upset about that...  Thanks, Milnes, for a great visit and all of your help with Carter and Davis!  Hope we can do it again!

Happy Birthday to Sean!

We celebrated Sean's 35th birthday last week--is it me or does he never age?  If he shaves off his beard, he looks 18.  I'm not kidding.  Anyway, we tried something new and went to the restaurant at a nearby public golf course.  They have outdoor seating with great views and will make fresh guacamole at your table...what's not to love?! It was fun to go out since we didn't really get to celebrate Father's Day this year.

 The boys were so interested with the golf playing going on and made Sean promise to take them to play golf   someday soon!  We'll see how that goes...

Back at home for some birthday cheesecake.  (Sorry for the blurry pic.)  We love you, babe!  So glad you're ours.  

It's My Birthday

Let's face it, turning 38 is not that cool.  But, I had a great day despite all that oldness.  My dear friend Megan had us over for a yummy lunch on Friday, complete with cupcakes!  The kids loved it, which is why I picked this pic to post.  I got to wear the traditional "birthday crown", made by one of Megan's girls, for the day. It was an honor.

Friday night, we headed to DIA to pick up Mimi & Grandpa Ted, who flew in for Kelsie's graduation.  We worked it into a birthday dinner at Ling & Louie.  Davis surprised us by eating everything we put in front of him: coconut shrimp, edamame, lo-mein noodles, you name it!

Happy Birthday, Kelsie Rae!

We celebrated my beautiful cousin's 22nd birthday last week with dinner at our house!  I remember the day she was born and it has been such a joy to see her grow up to be the amazing person she is today.  We love you, Kels!

Daddy is the Birthday Boy!

Happy Birthday to the best husband a girl could ask for and the best Daddy ever!!  We love you, Sean!

On the way home from picking up Sean's cake at the bakery, Carter asked if Daddy was really turning 34 years old.  I told him "yes", then Carter asked "Well, how old are you Mommy?".  I told Carter that I was 37 and Carter said "What?!  You mean you're older than Daddy?  Does Daddy know how old you are?"  I was cracking up, but I told Carter that Daddy has always known I was older and I assured Carter that Sean didn't mind.  Carter still wasn't convinced.  He told me "Well, I think we'd better go home & tell Dad right away."  Seriously, he acted like I've been fooling Sean all these years...guess I know where HIS loyalties are!

The boys were more than happy to help Daddy eat his cake!  Carter kept referring to Sean as "the birthday boy"...it was pretty cute.  This is almost the same pose we got on my birthday--Davis smiling from ear to ear and Carter looking longingly at the cake.  

Birthday BBQ

We had a fun Memorial Day weekend with a neighborhood BBQ on Monday in which we had a wonderful group of friends and neighbors over to grill and watch our kids play.  I've said it before & I'll say it again--we are so blessed to have amazing friends in our lives.  It is always nice to socialize with other parents of young kids who "get it" and who can share in the trials and tribulations of parenthood...we laughed, we drank beer, we swapped stories.  I am just bummed that I got ZERO photos of that day.  

On Tuesday, we had family over for a birthday celebration for Taylor and me, since we share May birthdays.  It was great since my mom is in town this week and could help us get our party on!
