Boys Being Boys

We just recently put the toddler bed into the same room as Carter's twin bed, thinking it would help transition Davis out of his crib. By some stroke of crazy good luck, it worked! Davis slept in his "big boy bed" the first night and every night since then. We have not had the issues we had with Carter getting out of bed multiple times. However, he now comes into our room around 5:30 every morning, usually even before Carter is awake. It's not ideal, but definitely worth it to be able to get rid of the crib in the near future.

Here are some photos I took of the boys being silly. Right before I got my camera out, Carter grabbed Davis, gave him a big kiss and said "Davis, I really like you, buddy." Can you say: tear jerker?! Those moments are so rare in our house that I really wish Sean had been here to see it, too. I love seeing my boys becoming best friends. There is nothing sweeter!

Carter Turns Four!

I still cannot believe that my big boy is FOUR! He woke up yesterday morning to birthday presents and had time to play before going to school. His teachers had a special birthday "crown" for him to wear (they are not allowed to bring treats to school because of so many food allergies) and Carter was so happy that Ms. LaDonna knew it was his birthday without him having to tell her! What a special day!

Sean came home from work to eat lunch with the birthday boy and we celebrated with a Cars birthday cake which Davis thoroughly enjoyed as well! That kid is first in line for any kind of dessert.

Happy Birthday, Carter! At four years old you are: starting to read, obviously glad you have a little brother (and have been playing nicely with him a lot lately), and Mr. Personality at school and at home. You are such a joy to Daddy & me and we can't believe what a smart, confident, sweet little boy you have become. It seems like just yesterday we were getting your nursery set up and anxiously awaiting becoming parents! You still have your moments of playing rough and acting stubborn, but we are working on all of that normal boy stuff and I know you are trying hard. No matter what, we love you lots & lots and wouldn't change one single thing about you!

Casa Bonita Birthday Dinner

We decided to brave the food at Casa Bonita for Carter's birthday dinner. I had been several years ago, but Sean and the boys had never experienced the Mexican extravaganza that awaited us. From the outside, you would never guess how expansive this place is. It opened in the early 1970's and is just as cheesy now as it probably was when it opened. The boys LOVED it!

We sat next the waterfall/cliff/pool area and had front-row seats for the Black Bart skit and cliff diver--definitely the highlight of the evening! I have to say, the food was better that we thought it would be and we all gobbled up the sopapillas.

Next, Carter got to whack a Pinata, play some arcade games and explore Black Bart's cave before riding the token "rides" on the way out. I am really glad we went when we did because the restaurant filed bankruptcy last week and it might not be an option to go back for Davis's 4th birthday! I would definitely recommend making the trip to CB if you are in town, just to experience this fun Denver landmark. It is worth their over-priced food just to see first-hand what all the fuss is about.

Sweet Music

Carter learned this song at preschool. He corrects me now when I try to sing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star", but I do it just to hear him sing HIS version because it is pretty darn cute.

Rock Creek Farm

Since I got a surprise night off last night, we decided to head to the pumpkin patch today for some family fun. The boys had a blast jumping in the bounce houses and looking at the animals. We didn't actually pick any pumpkins, but that's okay. We were happy to take the hayride and just explore. The views were amazing!
