Preschool Celebration & Field Day

Davis woke up on the wrong side of the bed on Field Day, so that was fun.  He was grumpy from the get-go and we actually had to cut the day short.   It was a nice distraction for me and I didn't have a chance to get teary once!  We started in the Preschool classroom where Ms LaDonna & Ms Teresa recognized each student and celebrated the kiddos going on to Kindergarten next year.  Then, it was time to move the party outside!

Preschool Drive-In

Our Preschool teachers never cease to amaze me.  Today they put on a "Drive-In Movie" experience for our kiddos.  Another mom & I helped provide the extra hands needed.  Davis and his buddies got to pick out "cars" and decorate them and use their money to buy movie tickets, popcorn and water for the show.  Of course, they watched Frozen.  It was such a fun morning!

Chuck E. Cheese for Breakfast

Davis's preschool class went on a field trip to Chuck E. Cheese last week & I got to tag along!  I was kind of dreading it, but with only 16 kids in the place it was surprisingly fun.  Davis was ecstatic and told me that he wished we could live there. (Yikes!) I think he had permagrin for the entire two hours...it was so stinkin' cute.   The point of the outing was to tie in the theme of "celebrations" that they are doing in the classroom right now; the kids ordered & paid for themselves and then were responsible for some of their usual classroom routines while we were there.  As a side-bonus we got to eat pizza at 10:00 in the morning.

Carter was kind of upset (gross understatement) that his field trip was to the local Arts & Entertainment center for a play.  Other than that, it was a really fun day!

Preschool Graduation!!!

Carter graduated from Preschool right after Memorial Day and before our big trip home to the Midwest.  It was such a sweet day...the kids going on to Kindergarten all got a hat and diploma, plus some other fun treats from their teachers.  I was proud of myself for only getting teary once.  (I was afraid I would be sobbing uncontrollably.)  Lucky for me, Davis did something naughty that required my attention so I had no time for tears!

 Next it was time for Field Day!

 Davis was not my friend during Field Day. He looks so sweet, doesn't he?! I was hobbling all over with my stupid boot on, chasing him around the events and trying to keep him out of trouble.  I ran out of snacks about half way through the morning, so that pretty much sucked. (Sean had to work so we could leave for vacation the next day.)

 This is my favorite pic of the day.  Carter held Ms LaDonna's hand during several events and I wanted to capture the special bond they have.  She and Glo have been such amazing teachers--we will miss them!!  I am really hoping Davis has them next year.  Fingers crossed!

 The day ended with popsicles and lots of hugs.  I am sad to think that Carter starts "big kid" school next year, but I am excited that Davis finally gets his chance to go to Preschool.  What this means is that 1) I am gong to have 2 1/2 hours a day to myself with NO children!  and 2) My boys are growing up.  I am going to try to focus mostly on #1.  Hope everyone has a great Summer!

Home Depot Field Trip!

A couple of weeks ago, Carter's Preschool class got to go on a field trip to Home Depot!  Davis & I were able to tag along and it was the highlight of our day! The folks at Home Depot went out of their way to make these kids feel special and had a bunch of fun things planned:

 We got to go behind the paint counter and see how they mix the paint.  The kids got to choose what colors to make!

 The fork lift operator put on a special demonstration for the class!

 They got to see how keys are made!  (I think Davis was grumpy because it was so loud.)

 They got real Home Depot aprons and went on a scavenger hunt through the store!

It was a great field trip and all the kids had a blast.  Thank you, Home Depot and Preschool teachers for arranging this!

1st Day of Preschool!

Carter started his last year of Preschool today & he could not have been more excited.  He woke up and went through the morning routine without complaints (very unusual), knowing that it was all in preparation for leaving to go to school.  I stole this "First Day of School" idea from my neighbor, who saw it on Pinterest.  

Davis cannot wait until it's HIS turn to go!  The whole time Carter was at school, Davis kept saying "But, Carter's my best friend!"  As in...how could you leave him at school & separate us for 2 1/2 hours??  

 It makes me so happy to see Carter's enthusiasm towards school.  Not a tear shed or a second thought given to mom leaving him this morning!  We are thrilled to have him back with Ms Glo & Ms LaDonna for his second year.  He ran to Ms LaDonna this morning--we love, love, love his awesome teachers!!

 Davis darted into the classroom as soon as we arrived to pick Carter up.  He is beyond ready to be a big boy like his brother!  Mom, on the other hand, not so much...
