Even though Carter's birthday is today, we decided to give him his gift yesterday so he could test it out while Daddy was home. He loves his new Jeep and we were thrilled to see him so happy. Hopefully his driving skills will improve!

The boys and I met our friends at the pumpkin patch last Friday. We had so much fun that we never actually made it out to the fields to pick our pumpkin!

Two Boys at the Zoo

The boys got their flu shots this morning and both did a GREAT job! Carter shed a couple of tears, but Davis just sat there. It was all over quickly & we headed to the zoo afterwards for a nice distraction.

The weather was perfect...breezy and cool, like Fall is supposed to be. Carter wore his "big boy undies" the whole time and used the big boy potty at the zoo twice! As gross as public restrooms are, I am happy to say that Carter is almost 100% potty-trained for #1. He even stays dry for nap time, but we still put a pull-up on him for bedtime. However, #2 is a different story. It is a work in progress, but we are so proud of him nonetheless. Can't believe he turns THREE on Monday!!!

So Proud

Sean was given a promotion at work last week and we are all SO proud of him! Check out Davis's tee shirt. :-) He is driven and dedicated and has been given a great opportunity to head up the sustainable design work that his company does. It's no secret that being environmentally friendly is one of Sean's passions, so it makes perfect sense that he gets to carry that into his professional life as well. We are excited about Sean's new work focus and feel very fortunate to have him in our lives. What a wonderful role model he is for our two boys!

"My Dad is the Man!"

10 months old!

I am sad to say that our sweet baby is already 10 months old. He is growing up so quickly! I just want to squeeze him tighter and make time stand still for a while. Davis is changing daily and keeps us on our toes. He now has three teeth and just today he said "Da-Da" for the first time. What a nice treat for Daddy! He is having fun cruising on the furniture and doing what I call "the proposal", where he balances on one knee and tries to stand on his own (still a work in progress).

His appetite has really taken off and he polishes off six or more containers of baby food a day, plus finger foods/snacks and 3-4 bottles. He loves feeding himself the finger foods and yogurt has become his favorite breakfast food. The best news is that so far, he seems to be tolerating wheat and dairy. He is getting small amounts now in the hopes that his system will be better prepared for whole milk at 12 months. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Gearing up for...

Thomas!

We took the boys to Golden to see Thomas the Tank Engine on Saturday afternoon. Carter & Sean went last year and had a blast, so we all decided to go this year!

Carter insisted on wearing one of Davis's wrist rattles as a watch for the car ride. Whatever!

I have to admit, I was pretty impressed by the life-sized Thomas. We rode in one of the covered train cars and it was packed full of excited kiddos with Thomas hats and tee shirts on. It was fun just watching them! We also enjoyed the petting zoo, train tables and kettle corn...what more could you ask for on a Saturday afternoon?

Boys Only

We are trying to soak up every bit of backyard play time while we can before the days become too cold to play outside. Having that space definitely helps our little house seem larger! The boys played in the clubhouse together for the first time this week and Davis loved it. I think Carter enjoyed it, too!

Carter started Preschool this week and loves playing "kitchen". I think it's great! Maybe we will finally have someone in the family who can cook!

As you can see, I still can't quite get the hang of the video feature on our camera...

Buddies, continued

I put Carter in the crib with Davis this morning and the two of them jumped like little monkeys while I vacuumed their room. Ordinarily, I would not be writing about this. However, in the middle of holding Davis in a head-lock Carter said "You know brother, sometimes I love you." It was so sweet. I think in Carter's world the head-lock was really a hug. This is the first time he has said anything nice to his brother without some sort of prompting from us. Keep it up, buddy!

Buddies

Carter has started to really enjoy playing with his little brother. It makes me so happy to see the two of them laughing together, chasing each other and "hiding" under the table. Carter will even get down & crawl with Davis. It has been a long time coming, but I am glad we are finally there! I know that they will not always be friends, so I am going to enjoy every little moment like this:

Labor Day Family Fun

Since Sean had Monday off, I enjoyed a very large pumpkin spice latte after work and powered through to the Children's Museum for a family outing. The boys had a blast! It's been almost a year since we were there and Carter was really able to enjoy almost the entire museum this time. We had a great time there, then went out to lunch afterwards. Carter & Davis did great at lunch (surprisingly) and made us think we should go out to eat more often! All in all it was a really fun day. We got home just in time...the boys & I were ready for a nap!
