18 Months Already?!

We took Davis for his 18-month well check yesterday (see his stats in the sidebar). It was a little late because, to be honest, I forgot about it with the move and all. Thankfully, we have a healthy little boy! Davis is doing very well developmentally and talking a lot more now. He can repeat almost everything you say and will walk around saying "knock knock" in an effort to tell jokes just like his big brother. (They both need to work on their punchlines a little bit.) He also loves to brush his teeth and have Mommy carry him, even though he is perfectly capable of running around the house and climbing everything we own.
Davis is going to be my little trouble-maker and my class clown, I'm afraid. He cracks us up and even makes Carter laugh on a daily basis. He gets into trouble by doing things he knows he's not supposed to do, all the while saying "no no", but he is so darn cute that Mommy has a hard time getting mad at him. I'm sure that will come back to bite me later.
I'm not sure where the time has gone, but my baby is now a little boy. Sniff. We love you, Davis!! You are such a joy to our family.

15 Months!

Davis turned 15 months old this week and he is becoming more like a little boy each day and less like my baby. He is talking so much now and we are actually able to understand some of it. He is still selective about when he uses words and when he grunts and points. Either way, he makes his needs known! He has been barking like a dog lately when he sees a dog; either real, stuffed or in books. It is pretty cute!
Davis still has a great appetite and would eat all day if you let him. He runs everywhere and climbs things Carter has never attempted. Have I mentioned that he has NO fear?! He has this look he gives when he knows he is not supposed to do something but wants to test the limits. It's almost as if you can see him weighing the options on whether or not to risk it. He is a stinker! But, so darn cute that I can't help but smother him with kisses and hugs every chance I get. We love you, Davis! You are such a joy to everyone who knows you...that sparkling little personality will get you far, son.

11 Months Old!

Here are some photos from Davis's 11-month birthday on October 22nd. He has started walking some and doesn't even seem to realize he's doing it. It's pretty cute, he looks like Frankenstein with his hands out in front of him for balance. I'll try to get some video of that soon...

Davis now has seven teeth (he cut the top four simultaneously) & has decided he is done with baby food. Of course, I had just gone to the store and gotten a bunch more jars of it. Anyway, he pushes it away and only wants to eat what we're eating & feed himself. He has a healthy appetite! He will often finish off whatever Carter doesn't eat, in addition to whatever else he's already eaten!

I cannot believe we will be celebrating his first birthday in a few short weeks. Mommy might shed a few tears for that one...my baby is just growing up too fast!

10 months old!

I am sad to say that our sweet baby is already 10 months old. He is growing up so quickly! I just want to squeeze him tighter and make time stand still for a while. Davis is changing daily and keeps us on our toes. He now has three teeth and just today he said "Da-Da" for the first time. What a nice treat for Daddy! He is having fun cruising on the furniture and doing what I call "the proposal", where he balances on one knee and tries to stand on his own (still a work in progress).

His appetite has really taken off and he polishes off six or more containers of baby food a day, plus finger foods/snacks and 3-4 bottles. He loves feeding himself the finger foods and yogurt has become his favorite breakfast food. The best news is that so far, he seems to be tolerating wheat and dairy. He is getting small amounts now in the hopes that his system will be better prepared for whole milk at 12 months. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Nine Months Old

Mr. Blue Eyes on his way out the door for his 9-month well check...

Can't believe my baby is nine months old! He is growing and thriving and we couldn't be more in love with him. Davis continues to be a sweet baby who is easy-going and playful. He is a good little sleeper and takes 2-3 naps a day, in addition to sleeping about 10 hours at night in his crib.

We had his well-child check today and were happy to see that he has met or exceeded all of his developmental milestones thus far. He is crawling, standing, cruising on furniture and even standing independently for brief periods without holding on to anything for support. He babbles to us all the time and has recently started "dancing" when we play music (just like big brother). It is pretty cute!

Davis is eating a lot of different baby foods and we are just starting to introduce finger foods. We are still taking things slowly due to his milk protein allergy, but hopefully we will be able to start whole milk in a few months!

Davis continues follow the growth curve, but his weight dropped off a little this time. I'm thinking it's probably because he has been sick the past (almost) two weeks now & hasn't been eating well consistently. Dr B is not worried at this point. Davis weighs 18 pounds 1 ounce and is 28 1/2 inches long. He is starting to grow into his big noggin as his head circumference was only at the 78%ile this check, versus at least 90%ile on all previous visits. He is a happy boy and we are enjoying watching him grow!

Eight months old!

Our sweet, handsome boy is eight months old today! Davis is a light in our lives and takes everything in stride. He loves his brother, sweet potatoes, anything he can get his hands on to put into his mouth, crawling, climbing, being tickled, playing with toys, singing and being held by Mommy & Daddy. He yells to get our attention and cries only when he is hurt (you can see a faint bruise on his forehead where Carter pushed him & his head hit the floor).

Big brother has been in "time-out" a lot lately for pushing and that seems to be working. Davis is getting pushed only about once a day now & sometimes, not at all! Bless his heart for taking all the abuse & still smiling at Carter whenever he sees him. I'm convinced that one day, Davis will be bigger and Carter will not dare mess with him. Karma, baby!

Davis & I make the most of our time together while Carter is taking his long afternoon nap. We play downstairs with all of the toys that we don't get to play with when Carter is awake. Mommy loves snuggling with you & kissing your chubby cheeks. We love you SO much!

Seven months old!

Davis is 7 months old today! This first year is flying by just as it did with Carter. Davis continues to be an easy-going baby who is quick to smile. His favorite things these days are any toys he can put into his mouth (Carter calls them "chew toys", as if he were a dog.) and of course, watching Carter. He loves to sit and play nearby his brother. This tends to be a war zone as Carter is bad about pushing Davis over for no reason at all. Ahhh, life with an older brother! Sean somehow survived three older brothers, so I guess Davis will make it too.
He continues to taste his way through the baby food fruits and veggies and so far, has eaten everything we've given him. Peaches were not a favorite, however. We have noticed his Eczema seems to be getting better so have held off on the Dermatologist for now. His newest trick is getting up on all fours and rocking, as if he is getting ready to crawl. Carter didn't crawl until 9 months, so I will be curious to see if Davis does before then. I thought he was cutting a tooth two months ago & still no tooth, so it's really anyone's guess.
I have to say, most days I feel Davis is being neglected compared to how we were with Carter. It is just so much different with your second child. They kind of get what's leftover...not that that's my first choice for him, but he gets overlooked so that I can care for Carter (and vice-versa). A few weeks ago, I had to remind myself to start doing baby signs with him and I am still not very consistent. One of my girlfriends has a daughter (her first child) that is four days younger than Davis. Her daughter is already saying four words!!! I felt horrible because Davis is nowhere close to saying "Mama" or "Dada". I hope that we are able to give each of the boys enough attention to make them feel special and loved at all times. It is a daily challenge and one that I am constantly trying to improve on.

Six months old!

Davis turned SIX months old on Saturday. I can't believe how fast the time is flying by! We had his well-check on Thursday and he is doing great developmentally...he is at or above-target on everything, which is always reassuring to hear. Davis is sitting on his own now and I will try to post some pics later this week. He actually enjoys rolling over now and has started chomping on his toes. No teeth, yet but he is a little drool monster! His growth stats are posted in the sidebar. Dr B was really pleased with his size and said he is sticking to the growth chart just as he should!

The bad news is that Eczema continues to be a problem for our little guy. His skin gets bad so quickly if he gets too warm or is in the car seat too long. (I just ordered Carter a new car seat, so Davis will get the hand-me-down as soon as the new one arrives.) We are still doing nightly baths, followed by our Desonide ointment and Aquaphor ritual. That certainly helps a ton, but it is a constant battle every day. We have a referral for a peds dermatologist, but Dr B, said we could wait a few weeks to see if moving out of the Winter weather into Spring/Summer helps it clear naturally.

5 months old!

Davis is five months old today! He such a sweet, easy baby and we feel so fortunate to have him in our lives...most days, Carter agrees. I am happy to report that our nightly bath routine seems to be helping...Davis's skin looks so much better! It is almost completely healed now. Yay!

Can't get enought of those fingers!

I'm sorry this is sideways. I thought it was cute enough to post anyway. The boys sure love their daddy!

Four months!

Davis is four months old today! He is such a happy baby and almost never cries. We both agree that he is a more mellow baby than Carter was. Thursday is our well-child check with the pediatrician & I cannot wait to see how big Davis is now!

Three months old!

Davis is three months old today! I cannot believe how fast the time is flying by. He is a happy baby and we are enjoying him being more social and interactive. He smiles and laughs now and "talks" to you. Still, his favorite thing is watching his big brother. I can't wait to see these two in another few months when Davis is able to sit up and start playing.

TWO months old!

I cannot believe Davis will be two months old tomorrow! We went to the doctor's office on Monday for his well-child check. I am happy to report that he is healthy and continues to do well on the hypoallergenic formula. He no longer has blood in his stool (even microscopically) so that is good news that the soy & milk protein-free formula is working!


His 2-month stats are:
Weight: 11 lbs 10.5 oz (49%ile)
Length: 22 1/4 inches (25%ile)
Head Circumference: 16 cm (70%ile)

He is so good at holding his head up for long periods of time during our "tummy time" and even when he is held upright. Just not sure about the Bumbo, yet.
