Sean and the boys drove to Columbia (Go Tigers!) to meet Sean's parents for lunch while we were back home. The boys got to play at a cool indoor play place and then they all went to Heidelberg for lunch. I know they all enjoyed spending some time together, even if it was a short visit. We are looking forward to Grandma & Grandpa coming to Colorado in a couple of weeks!

Slip-n-Slide

Did I mention that it was HOT while we were in Kansas City? As anyone from the Midwest will tell you, it's not the heat...it's the humidity. Thank goodness for the Slip-n-Slide! I remember spending many Summer days on the S&S when I was growing up, so it was fun to see our boys enjoying it for the first time. Grampy even got in on the action!

Mimi's 60th Birthday

My mom turned 60 while we were in Kansas City last month--Happy Birthday, Mimi! She doesn't look a day over 50...I hope I have the same good fortune when I'm her age! We had a great time celebrating at our favorite BBQ restaurant with family. Mom had a singing telegram surprise show up at Smokehouse, too. Something we all enjoyed...gotta love public embarrassment!

Worlds of Fun

On the hottest day of the Summer, we decided to take the boys to Worlds of Fun! We all had fun and discovered that on super-hot days, there are no lines for any of the rides. Score! Thankfully, they have air-conditioned areas where we were able to get cooled off before braving the heat again. We caught a music show while we were there & Sean and I even got to ride the biggest roller coaster in the park while Mimi & Grampy watched the boys. One was enough for me, but I think Sean would have enjoyed riding a few more "big" rides. Next time...

"Planet Snoopy" is just the right size for Carter & Davis. It was fun to see them on the rides since we have never taken them to an amusement park before. Davis would get mad when the rides stopped and said "RIDE! RIDE!" He wanted to keep going and going and going, despite the heat.

Grampy rode, too! Our favorite ride was the Viking Voyager (aka: the Log Ride) and we rode it four or five times. You splash down at the end so it was the perfect way to cool off after our hot day at the park. Can't wait to go back again!

Zona

Our last night in KC was spent splashing, dancing & dining in Zona Rosa. Once again, it was hot (noticing a theme?), but the boys loved the splash fountains and we had a good time watching them get soaked. At least someone was cool!

After dinner, we came outside to find live music playing in the courtyard area. Davis showed off his moves wearing the new shoes Aunt Sister got him. Pretty snazzy!
