Thanks for the "Help"

It is no secret that I'm not a morning person.  However, my boys never got that memo.  Carter has always gotten up at the crack of dawn (It's not unusual for him to come into our room at 5:45 ready to start the day.).  I can usually hold him off for a while by putting on one of his favorite shows.  Don't judge...a sleepy mommy is a very grumpy mommy.

Yesterday I slept in until, gasp, 7:00 and woke up suddenly when I realized the show was over and Carter was not in our room.  I came downstairs to find that Carter had made me coffee in a creamer cup (he couldn't reach the coffee cups) and opened up the Keurig before it was done brewing because the coffee had started to spill over the top at that point.  *Note to self: creamers are not large enough to hold a mommy-sized cup of coffee.

Carter had also gotten food out of the freezer and the big scissors.  He was not messing around, people!  This was what I walked in to:

He couldn't understand why I was upset, since he was just being "helpful".  We had a little talk about safety before I took these photos.  Then I had to chuckle to myself about how, most days, I feel like I'm living in a circus side show with these two boys.  I was just so happy that nobody got burned, cut or worse.  Turned out to be a pretty good day!

Steve Songs!

We watch Steve Songs every morning on PBS Kids, so when Grandma Nancy told us that he was having a concert in Breckenridge we were more than happy to go!  Our friends drove up with us, making this day even more special.  We had a fun day in the mountains and we even got to meet Steve!  How cool is that?!

When I told Carter we were going to Steve's concert, he said "Is it going to be the real Steve or just someone in a Steve costume?".   I think he was a little star-struck to see it was the real Steve.
What a nice guy!  Can you tell the kids are excited?

 My sweet future daughter-in-law.

 Getting their groove on...

 Following the Music Man

All the kids got to take the stage at the end of the concert...there's Carter on the far right.

Big A was a dancing queen!

After the concert, we took the kids to lunch (probably my least favorite part of the trip as my boys were wound up and out of control by then!).  As we were walking to the car afterwards, we saw this little hummingbird.  It was not shy at all!  All four kids got to observe it up-close-and-personal.  What a great end to our day trip.  *Bonus* Three of the four kids fell asleep on the way home!

Big Boy Bike

We decided that Carter was finally ready for a bike after seeing all the neighborhood kids zooming around outside.  He never had much interest in his tricycle or balance bike but boy, has he taken off with these new wheels!  The training wheels have given him the confidence to focus on pedaling and steering (we're still working on that one...).  It has been fun to watch him go & see how fast he's improving!

Not to be left out--Davis brought the hand-me-down tricycle out so he could keep up with big brother!

And, they're off!

Pedaling is optional when you can easily scoot yourself where you need to go.

Mimi, Drampy and Flying Boxes

Here are a few more pics of our time with Mimi & Grampy (Or, "Drampy", as Davis likes to call him!) during their recent visit.  We miss you both & had a great time while you guys were here!

 So sweet!
I love the look on Davis's face in this one!  Carter is oblivious to his creepy brother lurking above him as he is totally engrossed in his Leap Pad game.  Is he four or 14?!

Our attempt at a mother/daughter photo.

Little brother is interested in anything and everything that big brother does!

 Snacking on watermelon with Grampy
Talking to Aunt Sister on Skype!  How cool!
"Aunt Christy, how did you get inside the iPhone?"

One happy Mimi & two lucky boys!

"Fly me, Drampy!"  (The box is the airplane, in case you missed it.) ;-)

One more tickle for Davis before they hit the road.

Baby Brinley!

If you are friends with me on Facebook, then you already know I am SO EXCITED to announce the arrival of my baby niece!  My brother, Josh & his wife, Natalie welcomed Brinley Virginia last night and she is just perfect.  Look at that sweet face!

Here are some pics of her that I stole from the interweb, so that everyone could admire her.  We love you already, Brinley!  Welcome to our crazy family, sweet girl!

Josh and Brinley with Josh's nieces.  They look so happy to meet their new cousin!

Family Reunion-ing

Our big outing was at White Fence Farm where the entire Myers clan met for dinner on Saturday night.  The boys enjoyed playing in the barn area before we ate, but we missed out on the animals and other outdoor attractions due to another storm. However, it's hard to complain about more rain since we needed it so desperately.

Giddy-up, cowboy!
Four Generations: Grandpa Ted, Mimi, myself and the boys.  I so wish my Grandma Shirley were around to meet my boys.  She would have loved them to pieces.
Grandpa Ted surprised us all by giving the analogy of his wearing swim trunks with suspenders as a "wardrobe malfunction" like Janet Jackson's...pretty impressive for a 93-year-old!

 Three Generations!

Mimi at her goofiest.  Love it!

Black-eyed Pea

Yes, the restaurant folks.  Not to be confused with the hip-hop group The Black Eyed Peas.
On our recent trip down to the Springs, we stopped for dinner at Grampy's favorite restaurant.  We like to humor him when he visits because it makes him so happy to go there...that, and he usually buys!
We even waited outside during the downpour Friday night for our table--B.E.P is a pretty happenin' place, apparently!
Grampy was only slightly embarrassed by our table as I dumped my whole big glass of water on the floor and Davis had food all over the place...of course, he didn't spill a drop of his ice cream sundae & even drank the remains of his melted ice cream!  We have "classy" written all over us.
