Zona

Our last night in KC was spent splashing, dancing & dining in Zona Rosa. Once again, it was hot (noticing a theme?), but the boys loved the splash fountains and we had a good time watching them get soaked. At least someone was cool!

After dinner, we came outside to find live music playing in the courtyard area. Davis showed off his moves wearing the new shoes Aunt Sister got him. Pretty snazzy!

Winnie the Pooh

I took Carter to see the new Winnie the Pooh movie on Saturday & we both loved it. We decided to leave Davis home to take a nap, so we were able to relax and just enjoy the show. It is fun to be able to do things like this now that Carter is getting older. Mommy loves any excuse to eat popcorn!

Trying it Out

We decided to check out the playground at Carter's new school last week. It is only a couple of minutes from our house and has quite a bit for the boys to do. They were playing on the jungle gym that was for 5-12 year olds (the smallest one there), but Davis really wanted to go on the "big kid" slide. That child has no fear. Often times, Carter will be apprehensive about climbing something and he will look up to see Davis already at the top! Anyway, we are happy to have a playground so close, because our neighborhood parks and pool won't be open until next Summer. Can't wait!!

Sister Visit

We had a visit from Aunt Christy last week and, aside from the torrential downpours, had a great time! We love that she has clients in Denver now...a great excuse to visit her two favorite nephews! Thursday night we had planned to go to the outdoor concert and carnival at our local mall, but since the rain changed our plans we decided to just do dinner instead. Attempt #1 was at a "nice" restaurant with cloth napkins and no kids menus. The first hint that things wouldn't go well was when Davis grabbed a burning candle off of the hostess stand within seconds of us getting there. The teenage hostess said "Ummm...that's fire." Davis just looked at his hand, then looked at me and said "Hot. Hot. Hot." After that incident, two table changes and some dirty looks from other diners, we decided to head to Red Robin. Sorry, Christy! You just can't take us anywhere apparently.

4th of July

We had a low-key Independence Day this year but decided to venture out to the local fireworks display. Turns out, they put on a really good show! The boys were about done for the night right when they decided to start shooting off fireworks. We ended up staying for the whole thing & loved it. I think this will be a new tradition for us! From our spot on top of a hill, we could see the fireworks displays from all over the metro area and had a clear view of downtown. Pretty cool! Next year, we'll bring our grill and do it up right like the other people around us.

Carter was getting impatient and Sean & I were getting nervous that maybe this was a bad idea.

What are we waiting for? I thought you said there were going to be fireworks!

Fun Times

Grandad & Grandma Nancy were in town last weekend to help me with the boys while Sean was away for work. They were a huge help, as usual, and the boys had a great time wearing them out while I was working and sleeping. I even had the luxury of going shopping by myself while they were here--what a treat!!! (Notice the jean blanket we are using as curtains...we still have some work to do on the new place. )

Thank you both for taking such good care of Carter & Davis for us! It means so much to know that the boys are so well cared for when we can't be here. See you again in August!!

Pool Time

We broke out the whale pool over the weekend to beat the 90+ degree heat we've been "enjoying" lately. If this keeps up, I may throw caution to the wind and take a dip in there myself. Desperate times call for desperate measures!

Lots to Celebrate

Not only did we celebrate Father's Day yesterday, but it was also Sean's birthday! We didn't do anything too exciting and Sean actually did some work out in the garage (sorry about that!) but we were all together, so we celebrated that.
Thank you, Sean, for being such a rock for our family. You are the most amazing husband and father we could ever ask for. You mean the world to us!!!

Also, a BIG Happy Father's Day to my Dad, Step-Dad and Father-in-Law. You have all had such a positive influence in my life and I love you all. Hope you had a great day!

18 Months Already?!

We took Davis for his 18-month well check yesterday (see his stats in the sidebar). It was a little late because, to be honest, I forgot about it with the move and all. Thankfully, we have a healthy little boy! Davis is doing very well developmentally and talking a lot more now. He can repeat almost everything you say and will walk around saying "knock knock" in an effort to tell jokes just like his big brother. (They both need to work on their punchlines a little bit.) He also loves to brush his teeth and have Mommy carry him, even though he is perfectly capable of running around the house and climbing everything we own.
Davis is going to be my little trouble-maker and my class clown, I'm afraid. He cracks us up and even makes Carter laugh on a daily basis. He gets into trouble by doing things he knows he's not supposed to do, all the while saying "no no", but he is so darn cute that Mommy has a hard time getting mad at him. I'm sure that will come back to bite me later.
I'm not sure where the time has gone, but my baby is now a little boy. Sniff. We love you, Davis!! You are such a joy to our family.
