Trick-or-Treat Street

Carter and I went to the Children's Museum on Thursday afternoon for our monthly playgroup with some of the girls I work with and their kiddos. We had a small turn-out due to the snow, but we had a great time! Carter wore a dragon costume, but he kept calling it a "dino" and I didn't have the heart to correct him. He looked pretty darn cute in his costume!
He had a blast playing in the real firetruck, complete with lights and siren...

Happy Halloween

Sean, Carter & I went to a family Halloween party at my friend Katie's house last night. Sean was dressed as an OB/GYN & I was Octomom (complete with my welfare check accessory). We realized when we got to Katie's house that we had left Carter's dragon costume at home. Bummer!! I was so disappointed, but at least he had his Halloween PJ's on.
We had a great time at the party! Katie and her husband went all-out decorating their beautiful home with every inch covered in Halloween decor. Darius even built a black coffin to hold all the beverages! Carter had fun playing with all of the other kids there and loading up on cake and cookies. It was a free-for-all with at least 20-30 kids there and I was just happy I didn't have to clean up afterwards!

October snow storm

Today has been the start of a two-day snow storm storm in the metro area.  They say we are supposed to get between 10-18 inches of snow by Thursday night.  We'll see...

It took me about 10 minutes to get Carter dressed in his snow bibs, coat, snow boots, hat & mittens only to find out in about 60 seconds that he didn't really want to play in the snow after all.  He landed in a pile of snow right after we went outside and that was it...he was ready to come inside and have a snack.

monster feet

Carter has a pair of socks that look like monster feet & they are his new favorite thing. Sean took these pictures of him over the weekend & I thought the were too funny! Check back at the end of the week for Halloween pics...you won't want to miss them!

34 weeks

Today was another uneventful OB visit. I am 34 1/2 weeks now & this little boy is still breech. My blood pressure was great today and baby's heartbeat is still good. I'll be going back in two weeks & then it will be weekly appointments until delivery at 39 weeks.
I have no major issues except that by the third night of work I am not a lot of fun to be around. By that point my back is already hurting at the beginning of the shift & you can no longer tell I have ankles. It's pretty awesome. I asked Sean if he could get a promotion or something so that I could quit working now & he just laughed. I took that as a "no". So--four more weekends of work for me. Let the countdown begin...

Tesla

Last night, Sean and Carter got to go take an up-close look at a car Sean has been following for a long time. The Tesla Roadster is an all-electric sports car that sells for over $100,000. It can go over 240 miles on a single charge. Needless to say, Sean is IMPRESSED! Our friend Jessica works for an advertising agency downtown that is working with the owner of the car to have it "wrapped" in advertising. Sean, Jarrod (Jessica's husband) and Carter were able to go in and see the car before that happened.

Zoo

Grandad, Grandma Nancy & I took Carter to the zoo on Friday afternoon. Sean was studying for the PE all day and we wanted to get out to enjoy the beautiful day. We had a great time! The only obstacle was the fact that Nancy is on crutches following foot surgery so we rented her a wheelchair. And the fact that I look like I am 40+ weeks pregnant and was pretty pooped after walking the zoo...I was really hoping to get called off at work, but no such luck!
On Saturday, Grandad & Grandma watched Carter all afternoon so Sean could get some more studying in. It was a HUGE help & Sean was able to get a lot done. Thank you Grandad & Grandma for taking such good care of Carter. He had a great time playing with you two and we enjoying getting to spend some quality time with you in between studying, working & sleeping!

On Thursday night, we had a family birthday celebration for Carter. Grandad & Grandma Nancy drove in all the way from Lawrence! Aunt Debbie, Uncle Scot, cousin Kelsie, and our good friend Mike Reed came over to help us celebrate our little boy. We had a pizza party and yummy cupcakes. The only thing I actually prepared myself was a salad!

2-year well child check

We went for Carter's 2-year check on Tuesday. Aside from the fact that we waited 1 1/2 hours to see the doctor, everything went great! He is at or above-target for his development for which we feel so blessed. Carter held still while the doctor listened to his heart and lungs and looked in his ears. He even stuck out his tongue to say "ahhh" when she asked him to. No tears until it was time for his flu shot. We were happy to hear that they should have the H1N1 vaccine by the end of the month. As of today, the hospital where I work (and will deliver) is imposing a no-visitation policy for ANYONE under the age of 18, so that means Carter couldn't visit me after I deliver. I'm hoping that we can pull some strings to get him in there if we can show that he has been vaccinated. It would be hard to be away from him for three days.

Head Circumference- 20 in (90%ile)
And yes, he is right on-track, following the growth chart. No need to worry about his weight she said.

out with the old...

Yesterday we picked up our new car! We have been car shopping for a couple of months now and finally found just what we were looking for (aside from the fact that it is not a hybrid). We used an auto broker which made the process so much easier for Sean & me. We decided to trade the Honda in rather than hassle with selling it ourselves.

Me with the Civic for the last time. I was surprised that I shed a few tears as I was driving it to be dropped off (maybe it's the hormones). I was thinking back to all that has changed in the 9 1/2 years that I have owned that car and remembering how excited I was the day I bought it...it only had 34 miles on the odometer! I have pictures of me with the car when it was brand new, so we thought it would be fitting to take one yesterday.

Our new car! It's a Mazda CX-9 and has tons of features that will make driving two small boys a lot more convenient & comfortable. Not to mention safer!! Carter's favorite part of the new car is the fact that he can watch Elmo DVD's from the back seat. We certainly could never do that in the Civic.

steam train

Sean reminded me that I never posted pics of their trip out to Golden to ride the steam train last weekend. As you can tell it was a COLD day! Sean said the train was really cool and Carter loved it.
