Spring Break Fun

 Carter has been on Spring Break from Preschool this week, so we are making the most of it!  On Monday, we went to my friend Katie's house for a cookie-making play date.  No pics from that day, but they kids had a blast! On Tuesday, I took the boys to see "The Croods".  It is a really cute movie!  The boys both loved it and we all enjoyed eating popcorn for lunch that day.  Don't judge...I come from a long line of popcorn-lovers.

Tuesday night, Sean arranged for us to have a babysitter and took me downtown for a date night!  What a treat!  We ate at a hip restaurant on Larimer Street and then headed to D bar for dessert.  The place was packed, but it was worth the wait.  I had their famous "Cake & Shake".  D-lish!!

On Wednesday, the boys both had scheduled dental appointments.  No cavities!!!  Both boys did well overall, but the dentist is always difficult for Carter.  He hates having people messing with his mouth.  He did finally let them get x-rays and tolerated the cleaning after some explanation of exactly what was going to happen.  Davis, on the other hand, hopped right up into the exam chair and was half-way through his cleaning before I even realized what was going on.  He is such a brave guy!  I am proud of both boys for doing what was asked of them.  Dr Mudd always gives great prizes, too! 

 After the dentist, we went out to eat for lunch and then played our hearts out at Little Monkey Bizness.  Davis fell asleep on the drive home--yay!

Today is my last day at home with the boys before my work week, so we had an Easter play date with our favorite girls.  We decorated Easter Eggs, had lunch together and then hunted candy-filled plastic eggs.  What a fun day!

Sean is home with the boys tomorrow and has a couple of fun options for them.  Saturday is our annual neighborhood egg hunt!  (Hopefully it will be more successful than last year when the boys collectively got one egg.) We are hoping the Easter Bunny will hop by and leave us something on Sunday.  Keep your ears crossed!  

Kind of a Big Deal...

...the issue of battery safety, that is.  Somehow, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission got ahold of our news story about Carter and the button battery, and wrote to us for help in their battery safety investigation!  I spoke with them this week and was happy to find out that they will use the information from our experience to help their cause to make the warnings on battery packaging more clear and informative for parents, and other consumers.  Wonderful news!

I have also been in contact with the Marketing director at  Hexbug, and she has added some recent changes to their website to specifically address the issue of battery safety.  Hooray!  She said they are also looking into adding some warnings on their replacement battery packing in the future.  Apparently, this issue was on the agenda for their recent meeting with the Founder/CEO of Hexbug, International.  I am so happy that they are actually listening and trying to get the word out to keep other kids from going through what Carter went through...or worse.  

Warm Welcome

 After almost two years of a lackluster entry, we finally have a warm & inviting little space to welcome visitors. Thank you, Home Goods!  Does anyone else love looking at "before & after" pics?  Aside from the crappy photo quality (It may be time for a new camera...), you can get a sense of the lack of interest before. PS: The art on the wall/in reflection is new, too.  I just forgot to take the "before" picture of the plain brown wall with a huge, plain brown rectangle hanging on it.  Believe me, this is an improvement!

Mimi & Grampy to the Rescue!

 Sean had another work trip out-of-town, so Mimi & Grampy came in town to watch the boys while I was at work.  WE LOVE GRANDPARENTS!!!  We used the time to celebrate Grampy's belated birthday with an Oreo cake.  It was a big hit with Davis.

 Check out this awesome igloo that Grampy built with the boys.  He used his cooler (yes, it was an Igloo) to pack the wet snow into blocks and build this snow fort.  The boys loved it!!! 

 We ended the visit with a yummy lunch at, where else, The Black-Eyed Pea!  

 We love you Mimi & Grampy!  Thank you so much for making the trip to Colorado & taking such good care of our boys.  You have helped us out so much and we can't thank you enough. We miss you guys!

Grandma & Grandpa Beilman Visit

We had a fun visit with Sean's parents last week.  We love when family comes to town and wish we could do it more often!

 On Saturday, Sean and his folks took the boys back over to Home Depot for one of their Kids' Clinics.  This time, they got to build a race car!  Our friend, Amelia, and her daddy were there too!

 The kids even got to race their cars down the ramp! And, they received a certificate of completion when their cars were done.

 Looks like everyone had a great time!

Home Depot Field Trip!

A couple of weeks ago, Carter's Preschool class got to go on a field trip to Home Depot!  Davis & I were able to tag along and it was the highlight of our day! The folks at Home Depot went out of their way to make these kids feel special and had a bunch of fun things planned:

 We got to go behind the paint counter and see how they mix the paint.  The kids got to choose what colors to make!

 The fork lift operator put on a special demonstration for the class!

 They got to see how keys are made!  (I think Davis was grumpy because it was so loud.)

 They got real Home Depot aprons and went on a scavenger hunt through the store!

Everyone got to build and paint a bird house to take home!

It was a great field trip and all the kids had a blast.  Thank you, Home Depot and Preschool teachers for arranging this!
