Happy Easter!

The boys got some really nice Easter goodies from the grandparents--thank you!!!! We hope you all had a Happy Easter!

After church this morning, we had the 2nd annual Beilman egg hunt in our back yard. The boys were more interested in opening eggs than hunting eggs, but I'm thinking next year it will all "click". Sean took them to the train museum yesterday, so they also got to meet the Easter Bunny! It occurred to me today that this will be our last holiday in this house...a little sad, but mostly very excited to create many more memories in our new home!

The Eggs Are Hatching

The boys and I colored Easter eggs today and it was a hit! Carter only wanted to use blue dye and dictated the colors everyone else could use. Wonder who he gets his control-freakness from? Anyway, after the eggs were done we had a mini egg hunt. Davis got a little overzealous and smashed some of his eggs which really upset his brother. Carter kept saying "That egg is hatching!" for all the eggs that were cracked. We didn't have any baby chicks, but we did have a fun (and messy) afternoon. Happy Easter, everyone!!!

For an early birthday present, I got to see Elton John in concert last week. He is a favorite of mine and it was so awesome to see him live. Thank you, Sean!!! And Dad, you were right, "Rocket Man" was awesome! It was a great night.

Boys!

Sometime early this morning Carter wet the bed. We have been keeping him in undies overnight lately and this morning it caught up with us. Anyway, that's not the point of all this. I told him to take off his wet undies and PJ's and put dry undies on. So, he goes back into his room to change and this is how the conversation goes:

Davis: "pee pee pee pee pee pee pee pee"(the boy is fascinated by his pee pee...and others, apparently)

Carter: "No Davis, you can't touch my pee-pee. If you touch it, it will go pee pee on you and then you will be all wet, like I am. You can't touch my pee-pee. You can only touch your own pee-pee."

Needless to say, Sean & I were dying in the next room. It was a great way to start the day.

Hallalujah!

After 3 years and 6 months of buying diapers/pull-ups for Carter, we now have a BIG BOY who poops on the potty!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you, Sweet Jesus!

Possibilities

We are one step closer to finding a new home! While it is not our "dream home", it is a very nice house and one that we could be very happy in. It has everything we need and plenty of room for guests! Enjoy the photos...it is very beige now, but that's nothing that a few cans of paint can't fix!

A Million Thanks

My dad and Nancy came to watch the boys for us while Sean was in Atlanta last weekend. Having them here was wonderful! I had been flying solo for 2 1/2 days when they got to town on Friday and we had had a slew of showings on our house, so I was a little frazzled with trying to keep the boys entertained, the house clean and holding on to what was left of my sanity. I have never been SO happy to see two people in my life! We got an offer on our house on Friday (yippee!), so they got to help us celebrate our first step towards moving on to bigger and better. Thanks for taking the boys swimming and out of my hair over a bit of a crazy weekend. Looking forward to having you both in our new digs this August!! Love you! Mr Davis was sleeping, so missed out on this photo op...

Bedtime Stories

I love reading to the boys at bedtime. It is usually the most calm time of our day and one of the few things the boys (usually) hold still for. I'll take any excuse to snuggle my boys!

Blustery March Afternoon

We almost blew away at the Botanic Gardens this afternoon. The boys didn't seem to mind, however, and had fun running around getting dirty. I was happy that the place was nearly empty today because it made keeping track of them easier! These boys are constantly in motion. There are a lot of reasons why I think becoming a mom at age 25 would have really been difficult but, I'm not going to lie, having the energy of a 20-something mom would be handy!

An All-Time Low

It's no secret that Carter has been a challenge in the potty-training department. Today I did something that I make a point never to do...lie to my son. I told him we were out of Pull-Ups and that he would either have to poop in his undies or on the potty. I reminded him that when he poops on the potty he gets a brand new scooter (we are desperate, people!) AND threw in that we could also stop at the cheeseburger shop (aka McDonald's) on the way home from the store. I also sang the "If Carter Goes Poop on the Potty" song that I made up and now sing on a daily basis. When all of that didn't seem to convince him, I bribed him to sit on the potty by putting the laptop in the bathroom and letting him watch his favorite PBS show while he tooted away. I'm not kidding you, my butt fell asleep while I SAT ON THE FLOOR FOR 45 MINUTES encouraging him to go and giving him positive reinforcement.
Guess what happened?! Nothing. No poop, not even a rabbit turd. Are you kidding me?! We have tried stickers, candy, small toys from the $1 bin, large shiny red cars, making him take off the dirty pants & clean himself afterwards, the aforementioned scooter and trip to Mickey D's and this kid is not budging. I think I'm done. If he wants to be the only kid in Kindergarten to not poop in the potty, so be it. I'm sure the peer pressure will get him by the time he reaches high school.

There's No Stopping Him Now

This boy got off to a slow start in the talking department, but he is now a little parrot. He learned how to say "bye-bye" and "mirror" today. We will have to watch what we say around here!

Aunt Sister

Christy was in town for business this week and spent the night with us on Monday. We are so happy we got to see her & are hoping that her new promotion at work will mean she gets to travel to Colorado more often. Actually, I am secretly hoping that she will meet a guy on the slopes out here & be "forced" to move to Denver!

Sean and Sister went skiing today and last night the boys were very happy to help them get all their gear packed up. I think we have two future skiers/riders on our hands!
