Memorial Day Hail Storm BBQ

We had Mimi & Grampy visiting over Memorial Day, so a BBQ was in order!  Unfortunately, the weather did not get the memo that this was supposed to be the unofficial start to Summer.  It poured, then hailed on our plans.  But, we went right on ahead anyway!  Mimi & Davis were snuggled up under the blanket while Carter was interested in the hail storm.

End of First Grade Fun!

Carter's Field Day and end-of-year field trip were both canceled due to the rain this year, but we still were able to celebrate this school year with a cute little presentation last month.  Each student did a research project to report on...Carter chose Rattlesnakes.  He did a great report & we are so very proud of him.

Lordy, Lordy...

Turning 40 wasn't half as bad as I was expecting.  I am blessed to have wonderful friends & family who made me feel like I had something special to celebrate.  Little did I know that Sean & my friends Amy & Cydney, had a big surprise planned for me...Cydney flew in from LA to celebrate with me!  I had NO idea they were planning this so it was a very fun start to the celebration.

Next stop, Sister's apartment for drinks & snacks before heading to Linger.  Sister sure knows how to entertain--everything was wonderful!  Thanks for being such a great hostess, Sister!

Next stop, Linger for Happy Hour with friends & family.  Kelsie stopped by to celebrate with her super old cousin. 

These ladies sure know how to make a girl feel special.  I was overwhelmed by how lucky I am to have them in my life.  Thanks SO much for all the spoiling, ladies!

My mom surprised me with a singing telegram & I had flashbacks to the singing telegram she sent to the high school cafeteria when I turned 16.  "Pierre" was so cute & did a really nice job embarrassing me.  Thanks, Mom!  Love you even despite this little shenanigan.  

My sweet husband met us at Linger with a delish birthday cake.  Love you, babe!  And in case you are wondering why we are both wearing leis, we're going to Oahu this winter to celebrate my 40th AND our 10-year anniversary coming up in December.  Sean & I had been talking about going but he flew the leis in from Hawaii as a surprise to tell me it's a done deal--we're going!!!  I'm beyond excited!!!

These are my favorite ladies & I can't tell you how wonderful it was to spend my birthday celebrating with them.  Love you girls!!!  Thank you SO much for a great night!

Grandad & Grandma Nancy to the Rescue!

We had a great visit with my Dad & Nancy over Mother's Day weekend!  They saved the day by watching the boys while Sean & I went on our fancy date for the retirement party in May.  As always, the boys loved spending time with their grandparents.

Fancy Date Night

We recently attended a big retirement party for the president & co-founder of BCER.  It was a rare occasion for us to get so dressed up...the owners were all asked to wear a tuxedo, which meant I had to go shopping for something fancy to go along with it.  Not as awesome as it sounds, trust me.  Despite that, we had a fun night celebrating a great man.  The venue was one of the ballrooms at the Denver Center for Performing Arts. Had it been a clear night (instead of the constant rain we've been having), we could have enjoyed a beautiful view of the mountains AND the Auraria campus Science Center that Sean designed. Oh well!

Spring Visit From Grandma & Grandpa B

We had a great visit from Sean's folks a couple weeks back.  Since everyone was home on Friday, we decided to visit the Wings Over the Rockies museum in Lowry.  I've been wanting to take the boys for a few years, so I'm glad we finally made it happen!  Lots of cool stuff to see!

 This is the Star Wars X-Wing Fighter that Lucasfilms donated to the museum.  It travels all over the world to official Star Wars functions & one of the volunteers at WOtR even made a replica R2-D2 for it.  The boys loved it!

Under New Ownership

I am happy to announce that my husband is now an Associate of BCER Engineering!  After spending a small fortune, we own a very very small percentage of the company.  I'm serious, it's tiny.  BUT, it's a big step for Sean and I couldn't be prouder of him and all of his hard work to get to this point.  He is well-respected by all of the other owners for his committee work, quality engineering skills and the great relationships he builds with clients.  We feel very blessed, even if we don't really understand how to calculate heat loads.  Love you, babe!  

Preschool Field Trip

Davis's preschool class got to take a neighborhood field trip to learn about various community helpers.  It was so much fun!  We started out with a road map of our stops.

The veterinarian was a huge hit and probably our favorite.  The kids even got to pet a little puppy!
